Landing pages and conversion
Message match: connect your email to its landing page
Message match means the landing page clearly fulfills the promise, topic, and action of the message that led to it. Preserve context so visitors do not have to search for what they were offered.

A mismatch can create confusion even when both assets are well written.
Compare the promise
Read the subject, link wording, and destination together.
Put fulfillment early
Make the promised resource or service explanation immediately identifiable.
Check the next step
Keep the action consistent with the visitor’s relationship and readiness.
A practical example
A fictional newsletter links to a scheduling worksheet, but the destination opens with a generic agency pitch. Moving the worksheet access and explanation first restores the promised journey.
A decision checkpoint
Compare the visitor’s expected action with the destination’s main action. A message offering a resource should not require an unexpected consultation to access it. If the business wants to invite a later conversation, present that as a separate optional step after fulfilling the original promise.
A mistake to avoid
Changing terminology between message and page can make one offer look like two different things.
How to assess the result
Test the complete journey and review relevant clicks, completed actions, and confusion replies.
Put the work in context
Conversion work should make the intended action easier for suitable visitors. Diagnose audience fit, message clarity, evidence, friction, and technical behavior before changing colors or adding more buttons.
Write the intended improvement and primary outcome before making changes. Keep a record of other releases and traffic shifts so that a before-and-after comparison is not mistaken for a controlled experiment.
A common question
Should the headline repeat the email exactly?
Not necessarily. It should clearly preserve the same promise and context.
